Painting deep contrast with an oil pastel limited palette.

This photo reference is very dark on purpose, I was at my friend’s birthday, I always liked big shadows and big contrasts so I waited for this moment before taking the picture.

Could it work on a oil pastel drawing using this redish palette ? I wasn’t sure, my main concern was about the cake…and I’m really satisfied how it came out!

I’m getting more confident using this limited palette and this oil pastel drawing journey is fun!
