When it’s time to show off his work
On the stress of preparing your first art fair.
When the time comes to show one’s work, there’s an enormous amount of stress. A lot of questions about the conservation of the work, about the choice of framing, about the size of the works, about the choice of price, about the choice of scenography, I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
There’s far too much extraneous noise to worry about, and that’s normal: my work is sensory, and its presentation is professional. What’s the point of producing work if, after a year, the paper you choose turns yellow year after year, or if the format is too small to appreciate the work, or if the paper ends up curling, or even worse, if your signature fades over time.
I’ll be showing my work for the first time at a fair from September 27 to 29, 2024 in Paris, in the Marais district. I change my mind every day, even every hour, about the format and framing but my choice becomes clearer, the sketches multiply in my notebook.
It’s essential to be well equipped, it’s expensive but I’m working for the long term.
