About Oil pastel on canvas

I’ve read everywhere that works painted with oil pastels should always be framed behind glass. It bothers me, I’m not a big fan of this format, I’ve sent an email to Sennelier, the reference house for oil pastels, unfortunately I haven’t had any response as to their recommendation on the subject.

There’s only one solution, I’m going to try it myself, I’d like to be able to paint on canvas, not having a studio, the question of storage is a very important issue for me. I don’t have the space to store a multitude of frames in my Paris apartment.

I have a small canvas that I’m going to unstrap, paint, fix with Sennelier fixative, wait for it to dry well and roll up my work, I’ll wait a week to see if my work cracks. I’ll post my result here and the whole process, whether it’s conclusive or not!
