Pause creation to set up your online store
Artists should spend more time on marketing than on producing work.
Not too much painting at the moment, I’m actively working on the opening of my online store. It has to be ready before the festive season, but maniac as I am, I think it’ll be online by the end of next week… or sooner.
Setting up an online store isn’t the hardest part, taking beautiful photos and getting the word out about your products are the challenges. But it’s not impossible: between pinterest and instagram, it’s possible to send people who like my art to my store. It’s a job in its own right, and one that forces me to put my creations on hold, but it’s for the good of my brand.
In the meantime, I’ve prepared 3 canvases with my favorite underpainting, because I’d like to try varnishing my works in oil pastel. I know that few artists do it, but varnishing a work on the base brings out the colors even more, so I’m going to try it on small formats.
In the meantime, I’ve painted a banana on a wood panel, which is quite a strange sensation, as I’m used to working on watercolor paper, and the oil pastel clings well to the paper, unlike the wood panel, which is all smooth. I was very sceptical about the result, but I’m really happy with it. This banana is called Shadow Banana.
Because we’ve never seen a levitating banana, and why not?
