Sennelier’s oil pastels force you to relearn how to use oil pastels

Sennelier is the leader in oil pastels, and for a reason, they’re the best oil pastels. You can literally paint with a lipstick, it’s impressive.

They’re so perfect that all the technique I’ve learned with other brands is almost obsolete. The sticks are small and thin, in the shape of a handy little pencil. I usually work with the brand big oil pastel baby, which I love for their width. I must admit I’m a bit taken aback!

They’re so perfect that I have to rethink my blending technique, which isn’t optimal. If I work the way I’m used to, i.e. by superimposing several layers until I get my favorite neutral color, I’ll soon be ruined! The big advantage of working with Sennelier’s oil pastels is that you can buy them individually. I don’t like oil pastel boxes, as there are often colors I never use.
