There are days and moments in life when, after the fact, we say to ourselves “I should have” or “I could have”. It’s in this moment that we feel melancholy, this feeling of sadness, while everything around us continues to exist, to vibrate. This is what motivated me to paint “Blue Soul”, this fleeting sensation that freezes us for a moment, lasting a few minutes, an hour for those who know how to turn, and several days for those most affected.

Painting is pure, painting is not lying. I don’t paint according to a trend, I don’t try to reproduce a style or a work I’ve loved. I paint according to my mood and the emotions that run through me. There are periods when you’re prolific and others when you’re not, and that’s normal. It’s also normal behavior to be frustrated at not producing more, the famous comparison with “the others”, whose fault is that? the algorithms.

When I painted “Blue Soul”, melancholy was my inspiration. It’s in all of us, we’ve all felt melancholy at least once. How do you transcribe it? Whatever happens, the final result had to be luminous and make you want to see the painting again and again. So I chose blue for the color of skin, for the universal aspect first of all, whatever the color of your skin, I want you to be able to identify with it. Blue is also soothing, you’re bound to feel something when you contemplate the blue of the sea. It’s not a describable sensation, it’s a feeling, that’s how it is. That’s what I wanted to achieve with this painting.

Although this painting depicts a sad feeling, it adds a touch of cheerfulness to a wall, and I recommend a black frame to bring out the colors. The painting is signed lower right, certificate of authenticity included.
